Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 2026

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how ChemeGate ("ChemeGate", "we", "us", "our"), accessible at chemegate.in, handles information when you visit the site. It covers the cookies and tracking technologies we use, how our advertising and analytics partners operate, and your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA). This policy is effective as of July 2026. By using ChemeGate, you agree to the practices described below.

2. Information We Collect

ChemeGate does not collect personal information directly. There are no user accounts, no sign-up forms, and no login required to use any calculator, study guide, or practice test on the site, you don't give us your name, email address, or any other personal detail to access anything here.

The only information generated is standard technical data collected automatically through the analytics and advertising services described in the sections below, things like browser type, approximate location, and pages visited. ChemeGate itself does not tie this data to your identity.

3. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device to remember information about your visit, such as preferences or browsing activity. ChemeGate does not use cookies to identify you, but the third-party services we rely on to run the site do.

Google AdSense cookies, used to serve advertisements and, where permitted, personalize them based on your browsing history across websites. Google and its advertising partners store and access cookies on your browser to decide which ads to show you.

Google Analytics cookies, used to understand traffic patterns on ChemeGate: which pages are visited, how long visitors stay, and where traffic comes from. This data is aggregated and anonymous, it is not used to identify you personally.

Third-party cookies, ad networks that serve ads through AdSense may place their own cookies on your device, governed by their own privacy policies, which ChemeGate does not control.

In short, ChemeGate uses three categories of cookies: essential (basic site functionality), analytics (Google Analytics), and advertising (Google AdSense and its partner networks).

You can manage or disable cookies at any time through your browser settings. To manage ad personalization specifically, visit Google Ad Settings or the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.

4. Google AdSense Disclosure

ChemeGate uses Google AdSense (publisher ID: ca-pub-1735212065219185) to display advertisements, which currently support access to the site at no cost.

  • Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies, including the DoubleClick DART cookie, to serve ads to visitors based on their visit to chemegate.in and other sites on the internet.
  • You may opt out of the DART cookie by visiting Google's Ads Settings and reviewing Google's ad and content network privacy policy.
  • Third-party ad servers or ad networks may also use cookies, JavaScript, or web beacons in their advertisements, sent directly to your browser. They automatically receive your IP address when this happens, which may be used to measure ad effectiveness and personalize the content you see.
  • ChemeGate has no access to, and no control over, cookies placed by third-party advertisers.

5. Third-Party Links

ChemeGate may link to external resources for educational context, for example, references to Perry's Chemical Engineers' Handbook, the official GATE exam website, or other study material. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or privacy practices of any third-party site. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any external site before sharing information with it.

6. Children's Privacy

ChemeGate is built for exam-preparation use by students and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through a third-party service linked to this site, please email filk4444@gmail.com so we can address it.

7. GDPR Rights (for EU Visitors)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, you have rights under the GDPR over data processed on your behalf by our third-party services, including the right to:

  • Access the data collected about you
  • Rectify inaccurate data
  • Erase your data (the "right to be forgotten")
  • Restrict or object to processing, including personalized advertising
  • Request data portability, and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

Since ChemeGate does not hold personal data itself, most requests are best actioned directly through Google's own tools, see Sections 3 and 4 above. You can also reach ChemeGate directly; see Section 9 for contact details.

8. Compliance with Indian Data Protection Law (DPDPA 2023)

ChemeGate respects the principles of India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA).

Because ChemeGate does not collect personal data directly, there are no accounts, forms, or sign-ups anywhere on the site, there is no personal data processing carried out by ChemeGate itself as a data fiduciary.

The third-party services we use, namely Google AdSense and Google Analytics, may independently process data as their own data fiduciaries, under their own privacy policies and legal bases.

Under the DPDPA, you have the right to access, correct, and erase your personal data. Since this data is held by Google rather than ChemeGate, these rights are best exercised directly through your Google Account settings and Google Ad Settings.

9. Notes & Test Attempt Tracking Consent

If you create an account and opt in, ChemeGate saves the notes you write and logs which practice test questions you answer correctly, how long you spend on each, and the topic, tied to your account, used to show you personalized study insights. Anonymized, aggregated trends across all users may also inform future features, never shared or shown individually. This is entirely optional: the site, including the practice tests, works fully without an account or without opting in. You can see your current status and change it anytime in Account Settings.

10. Contact

ChemeGate is a solo student project. For privacy questions or data-related requests, email filk4444@gmail.com. You can also find more about who runs ChemeGate on the About page.
